The Story of a Story

You are a story. You were born round a fire. You are passed around and around. Your creator becomes a Teller, and they pass you to assorted listeners, some of whom grow to become their own Tellers of you. You provide warmth sometimes, and cold comforts on other occasions. You will change, you will be changed, you will rest and eventually you will flee one mouth and become a story in a different world. Will you be happy? This remains, this remains to be seen.

The Story of a Story is a solo journaling game built on Mousehole Press’s Lost and Found system. You play a Story, specifically an orally told story, over a long period of time. Anytime “You” are referred to in the game we are talking about the Story.

You will pick and define your Tellers and explore yourself in three different periods; when you a sparked, when you are twisted and when you become something else.

The game is designed to be played alone. It is a game largely about community. This may be an isolating experience and if you are struggling with feelings of loneliness we would recommend you take care of yourself, take breaks when needed, and walk away from the game if necessary.

The game could also be played as an epistolary - a letter writing game between two or more players - if doing so be careful to take of each other and discuss any content you are or aren’t comfortable playing.
